Advanced Material Synthesis

Microfluidics (Manipulation of fluids at a micro scale) has emerged as a very promising route to generate microparticles with enhanced features and excellent control over material properties, such as size uniformity, chemical anisotropy and particle functionalization. In addition, by extending the dimension of microfluidic channel, we can greatly expand its application range from current particle formation to high aspect ratio membrane synthesis.

In combination with flow lithography, microfluidic membrane synthesis is operated in a one-step while high throughput fashion. The synthesized membranes can have different features such as micropores, designed geometry, and chemical heterogeneity.
